Administratives

The most important things to bring, no matter which country you are heading to, are your identification documents. If you live in a country, that is a member of the European Union, you just need your Identification Card to identify yourself and to enter Lithuania. If you are from a country outside of the EU, you probably need your passport and a Visa. To be sure, you should Inform yourself at your Foreign Office, which documents exactly you need, to come to Lithuania as a student.

For your semester abroad you need a lot of money. The big question is always: At which bank in Lithuania can I withdraw cash without paying an extra fee? This question cannot be answered in general, because every one of them has different partner banks in the whole world. Some of them even have none and are only open to free withdrawal for people with a Lithuanian bank account. You should ask at your own bank, at which banks in Lithuania, you can withdraw cash for free.

If you have a credit card, you normally can withdraw cash for free at every ATM, that has the label of your credit institute (Mastercard, Visa, etc.)

If you live inside of the EU, normally you don’t have to pay fees on roaming in another country anymore, so you don’t need to get a Lithuanian phone card. But always double check with your national provider, how they handle it. If you are from outside of the EU, you should organize yourself a Lithuanian Phone card.

Possible Providers are:

  • Bite

  • Omnitel (Telia)

  • Tele2
