Public Transport
When using public transport within Vilnius, you have the option of three types of busses. You have the fast busses, recognisable by the letter G after the line number. These busses do not stop at every bus stop and thus can make a long distance trip a lot faster. Besides the fast busses, there are the normal busses and trolley busses. These busses stop at most, if not all, stops they pass.
When traveling by any of these busses, you can buy a ticket from the driver. This ticket will cost you 1 euro and will be valid until the last stop on the route. Another option is to get the Vilniečio kortelė. This public transport card will cost you 1,5 euro and can be loaded with a variety of public transport tickets.
These tickets can vary from a 30 minute to a 365 days ticket. When loaded with one of these tickets, you will be able to get on and off any number of busses until the card expires. You do however, have to make sure that the ticket is activated. This can be done by holding the card against the yellow machines in the bus and wait until you hear a sound. This only has to be done once.
You can get these card at all venues with a Vilniečio kortelė sticker on the windows. An example are the Narvesen kiosk stores. One of these is located in the arrival hall of the Vilnius Airport.
The prices of the tickets depend on the time period that the ticket will be valid for. A short overview can be found below:
