Shopping

Vilnius offers many great places to go shopping. There are many stores spread across the city. One of the best places to go if you want to shop in the centre of the city would be Gedimino Prospectas.

The city also offers a lot of shopping centres which contain a great variety of stores. The shopping centres also offer many cafes and restaurants and are thus great to spend a long amount of time. Some of the central shopping centres are Panorama, Vcup and the Europa shopping centre. These are located, just on the northern side of the Neris river. Two of the biggest shopping centres, Akropolis and Ozas, are located even more to the north. These shopping centres also offer bowling tracks, ice skating rings and a cinema.

In Vilnius, you can find 4 supermarkets. These supermarkets are Rimi, Iki, Maxima and Lidl. The sizes and assortments may vary. The biggest supermarkets will probably be the Maxima xxx in Akropolis and Mindaugo gatve. The Maxima store on Mindaugo gatve is open for 24 hours.

For those who want to buy alcohol in the supermarket, make sure that you check the time. Within Lithuania, supermarkets are only allowed to sell alcohol between 8a.m. and 10p.m. Besides this rule, there will be a change in the legal drinking age. Starting January 1st, the legal drinking age will be changed to 20 instead of 18.

When looking for cosmetics, you can have a look in the bigger supermarkets or at the Drogas stores. Within the city, you can also find stores as Douglas, The Body Shop and Euro Vaistine. In some shopping centres, you will be able to find some stores selling professional hair products. If you are looking for some more biological products, Bio Sala might be the right store for you.
